Early morning play ideas

I'm after some play ideas I can set up for DS 2.5 years for first thing in the morning. He's up at 7, and the minute he's awake wants to play, but I'm still coming round! I find setting up an activity works, like setting up his train track, works well but I wondered if anyone had cracked this! (With the exception of cbeebies, he's not that interested in TV!)

I found both of mine liked things that weren't actually toys. You could fill a box up with various things....either household or natural.

Natural....pine cones, small clean stick, dry leaves, small pebbles...I painted ours with images of stuff mine liked and they loved them...but you can buy them on Etsy www.etsy.com/au/listing/641644540/winter-christmas-weather-seasons-stones?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=story+pebbles&ref=sr_gallery-1-17&organic_search_click=1

Or put in things you know he likes...a spatula, measuring cups, keys,...whatever.

If you really fill it up or fill three...he should be busy for some time. You can change the contents some days to keep his interest.
