9 month old not babbling or copying actions

I have a 9 month old boy who is smiley and happy and responds when you call his name. However he isn’t making any babbling sounds (no ‘ba’ ‘ma’, only makes ‘ooh’ or shrieks!) and doesn’t copy what we do (eg if we clap he won’t). Has anyone had this at this age and had it not be autism? We have a family history of it so I’m worried

Hi,

I've just started a similar thread. My 9 month old isn't waving or clapping and never had. He is crawling, cruising and standing on his own so I'm wondering if he is just focusing on that. Yours might be doing the same if he is more advanced in moving about?

I am also worried though and finding it hard constantly analysing instead of enjoying him 😪

Yes I feel the same, I don’t want to be worrying instead of enjoying these days! I’m trying not to and just hoping he might be a bit slower at communication. Yes he’s quite advanced physically so I guess that may just be what he’s focusing on right now
