ds now one is wanting to feed him self more and more which is great but yep theres a but at first he was having problems getting finger food out of his bowl so we would put it straight on the tray no problem and thats the only way he will eat his finger food is of the tray we have given him a spoon to feed himself bits of purre like yoghurt but he keeps trying to tipthe bowl over his tray to eat it that way we use suction bowls which he pullls of easy tried talking to him and showing him how to do it but he looks at me baffled any others been through this if so what did you do to combat it thanks for reading this far

How old is he? Maybe he's a little young for a spoon? He's obviously got the hand to mouth thing OK so I would just leave him to it - it is VERY messy but he'll get the hang of a bowl and spoon eventually. Do you eat your meals together or does he eat his on his own? If he eats at different times then maybe all sitting down together and seeing you do it might help?

get one of those plastic mats to catch any learning mess as it's easy to wipe clean too! it's a steep learning curve so just give him time and just keep showing him how you do it. if you can eat with him, do, as this def. helps them mimic you.

those suction bowls didn't work for us either! will he let you guide the spoon into his mouth?

hes just gone twelve months me and ds eat together for every meal and i honestly dont mind feeding him but after a while he takes the spoon off me to do it himself so i thought buy letting him do this would help encourage him i did try the you have your two spoons mummy have her two spoons and we eat together but he throw his on the floor not nastly but knowing he cant have mine if hes holding his
