My 7 yo DD has always been quite difficult. Even as a baby/toddler was prone to hysterical tantrums, lashing out etc. She can literally scream all day if something upsets her.
Now at 7 she lies, has a vicious temper, cannot stand to be told she is wrong and is generally a bit of a brat. She gets hysterical if she sees any insects (even the tiniest of flies), but not consistently. Sometimes it doesn't faze her but others we have full blown hysterics.
I have tried every parenting strategy I could stumble across online. Star charts, incentives, time outs, strictness, withholding treats, talking, affirmation etc. Nothing ever works.
I never know when to believe her, or what kind of a mood she will wake up in. She has siblings and none of them are like this.
Every little thing seems to just be highly dramatic and attention seeking, even though she undoubtedly gets more attention than her siblings.
She's very intelligent and doesn't behave like this at school or for her grandparents. Basically just me and dh.
