8 month old not going into all 4s from bum

So my LO is 8 months old. Shes sat well since 6 month old, no support needed. She rolls both ways really well and for the past 2 weeks she has been crawling on her arms and sometimes goes onto all 4s and rocks. However my concern is if shes on her bum and a toy is out of reach she will open her legs and try to reach for it but wont go into her knees like most babies do also when she stands its like her knees keep on giving way, so now I'm worried she might have hypermobility and low muscle tone.

I know shes only 8 months and I shouldn't compare her to others but this does worry me. Shes been trying to crawl now for nearly a week.

My now 9.5month old did exactly the same thing.....she never commando crawled, always reached from sitting and then suddenly at 8.5 months it was like something clicked and she suddenly went from sitting to properly crawling! Now there is no stopping her as she is already cruising the furniture! She was like your daughter and wouldn’t weight beat on her legs at all at 8.5 months and you’d never know that now, So don’t worry she’ll get it!

Mine didn't move from his bum at all until 11 months and even then not very well. He started properly crawling sometime after his 1st birthday when lots of his friends were starting to walk. I worried endlessly about it but he's now running and jumping around and is absolutely fine. I know it's hard but really try not to worry, they're all different and your little one is still very little.

Ah my son has been doing that. He can get on his knees but they seem to slide open so he ends up on his tum quite a lot. I've been given exercises to help him keep them together. Also he lifts his legs in the air instead of bearing weight. He's 9.5 months old and actually he DOES have mild hypermobility in his hips and ankles, but physio isn't worried at all, said he might just take a bit longer 'getting it'. My husband and his mum had it too and were bottom shufflers and late to walk... But very athletic once they got a little older!
So your little one is probably absolutely fine but if slightly mobile it isn't the end of the world anyway!

I don't mind how long it takes my boy to crawl and walk as long as he gets there eventually. But I do dread the comments at playgroups etc. Women seem to instinctively compare babies constantly and I find myself having to defend my little boy (who is fab at loads of other stuff, just not on the move yet!).

My dd didn't crawl until 14 months.

Relax, all babies get there at their own pace. You'll miss the days when they couldn't move!
