My dd is 4 in Nov.She sucked her thumb from birth so i gave her a dummy which i took off her last xmas but by then i had weaned her off it to night times only. She left them for Father Christams and we never looked back (in fact i was sorry that i did not go cold turkey the Christmas before when i started reducing her time with it)

Anyway all fine until v recently. Now when tired she sucks her thumb. But i am pregnant and recently we have talked about it more as I am 22 weeks now (in a positive way and shes thrilled) and i wonder if this could be cause?

Makes sense to me. From what I have heard, children will want to be a baby again at times. In my mind, I always imagine I would indulge this to a certain extent so have 'pretend to be a baby' time when the second would come iykwim. So time when they can be cuddled like a baby and go ga ga ga - as a fun game. Or be fed just like a baby in a silly way. And then when you stop the game they stop acting like a baby too...

But this is all just an idea and theory!! My little one is 15mths and no second one on the way... so this may be way off the mark. I am a drama teacher so obviously enjoy pretend games

sounds good to me might try that one.she keeps asking me to see photos of herself as a baby and asking me to tell her stories of when she was a baby

think we will have some baby time!

Peanut ... I'm 42 and I still suck my thumb when I'm tired!

I have been known to suck my thumb

it's very comforting. I started NOT doing it in earnest when dh said he found it sweet
