clingy and whingy - a normal phase or is it because she has stopped nursery?

my dd is 11mo and finished nursery last week for the summer. since monday, she has become incredibly whingy and clingy, wont let me out of her sight for a minute and i have ssen more tears than ever before; she's usually so contented.i thought it might be teeth/illness but cant see anything and calpol makes no difference. can you reassure me that this is a normal phase and how long it might last - it's exhausting!

Normal and possibly enhanced by the change in not going to nursery at the moment.

I can recommend lots of peekaboo games and books, encourage an understanding that things are there even if she can't see them.

I know that you go at nursery, but then she is distracted which is different to you going and her ending up in a room on her own. She will get better at this.

thanks twentypence. she loves nursery and has no qualms at being handed over, although she's always pleased to see me at the end of the day! it doesnt help that dh is off work this week and next, so our days are not so structured as they are when its just me and dd - he doesnt understand that she is better when we go places and do things; he likes just pottering at home.
interestingly enough, have just been playing peekaboo..... for the 8th time this morning
