okay its not that desperate, but my ds (2.4) won't settle at night in his bed which is simply a matress on the floor. We moved him out of his cot cos it was getting to small and he was starting to climb out if he did not want to be in it. It just takes over an hour from last story/hug/milk to him staying in bed let alone falling asleep. Once he goes to sleep he's fine but cos the whole process takes so long he never gets enough sleep at night. Suggestions please

witchandchips,

You are probably going to hate my suggestion but I think bedtime routines are so special. Cuddles, hugs, kisses, and stories make bedtime special. Maybe you can start a little earlier.

Leati · 27/07/2007 10:05

You can also try laying with him and rubbing his back or head to help him settle down.

we do all this and its lovely but its what happens afterwards

Hi, we had a few nights of my ds getting out of bed when we moved him out of his cot. I saw this in argos and thought it would make going to bed fun for him and you know what.... it worked wonderfully!

www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=10651&langId=-1&sear chTerms=thomas+the+tank+engine+bed+tent

He loves going to bed now and tells me all the time that mummy bought him it from argos, he says it's the best bed in the world!

Maybe it could work for you too .

Browny · 27/07/2007 10:16

Oh, forgot to add that he has a safety bed rail on too and the tent is very secure .

witchandchips · 27/07/2007 10:20

thanks browny that might work as he loves thomas

You're welcome, hope it works for him (and you), he even plays in it in the daytime too .
