8 month old DS prefers his dad

I’m pretty upset about this.
My DS is very whingey and whiny anyway. He doesn’t self settle. Lately he’s been very bad & will cry inconsolably on and off all day long. I think he’s teething , he only has two bottom ones at the moment.
I’m on maternity leave and DP works, leaving the house at 7am and returning at 5pm. As soon as he’s home, DS is happy and much more relaxed. He always wants to play and be with his Dad.
I breastfeed , but after he’s fed in the night, he’ll roll over towards his Dad to be cuddled and soothed to sleep. It’s quitr heartbreaking in a way Sad

Has anyone else had similar?

My daughter went through a phase like this at a similar age. Daddy was her favourite and you’re right it does feel heart breaking. You do so much for them and it feels like they don’t want you. Try not to worry, with my daughter it soon came and went. It won’t last forever but I know it’s sad and hard to deal with while it feels like the other parent is the favourite/preferred. I remember a year or so later my daughter went through a phase of only wanting me. And again that phase ended too. She is three now and doesn’t really show any preference.
