Help! Car crying.

Hello my baby is now 6 months old and she is generally really happy until she is in the car.
From the moment we set off she screams and cry's and gets herself in such a state!
I used to stop and put her dummy in but she just spits it out and carry's on screaming. She also gets herself so so hot doing it and it's so sweaty.
I just don't know what to do anymore😩
Thanks x

My DS went through a phase like this. We used one of those mirrors you strap on to the headrest - he quickly realised he could see me in it if it was angled the right way, and started to calm down. I also played (and sang along to) nursery rhymes in the car which.

Whoops posted too early! That should say which helped Smile

Also following as my 9 month old not a fan of the car! Mirror doesn't work on him, the only thing that sometimes helps is an adult being in the back but a- sometimes there is only me in the car and b- its a squeeze between 2 car seats as he has an older brother. We've taken a couple of longer trips by train recently when I was on my own with him, at least he could have a cuddle that way. Sending sympathy and following for tips Grin

Both my boys have done this almost every car trip from birth. DS1 got better in the group 1 car seat and better still at 15m old when he could be faced forward. DS2 is still a nightmare but thankfully is 13m old so I have my fingers crossed.

@Shelley54 I was wondering if it was the car seat! Last two car journeys he has been much better if he's been allowed to play with car keys...not a toy, just car keys!

Shelley54 · 26/06/2019 12:46

@tappitytaptap Yes I give him my house keys and it keeps him happy til he drops them!

My daughter was like that at 6 months, we had no idea why. For us it turned out this was the beginning of her having car sickness, she's 8 now and still has terrible car sickness.

BeeMyBaby · 28/06/2019 08:37

I agree with findapenny, 2 of my DC cried in the car and both suffer from car sickness, however the crying stopped when they were faced forward.

Thank you all for your advice.
She is 9 months away from being able to face the front still but I'm hoping it won't last till then! 😩
I looked at the next car seat for her and we may go and buy it this weekend and she will need it anyway. The ship assistant said she would be fine to go in it now.
