Clingy baby

My LO is now 1 and suddenly quite clingy. There have been no recent changes in her life though she is teething so am hoping it is a phase. Trouble is I can't get anything done! In the mornings I get her ready and then have to put her in the cot while I shower etc as it is the safest place. She is only in there 10 mins and I keep talking to her but she goes mad!

Also tried putting a gate up at her room and leaving her there but she objects just as much!

Any ideas? Do I just wait til she grows out of it and live with this madness every day!!!

I'd say roll with it whilst repeating 'this too shall pass, it's just a phase, this too shall pass, it's just a phase'

have you a ring sling or similar to take some of the weight and give you at least one hand free?

My dd is exactly the same at the moment. As she's number 3 I've been anticipating this and started putting her in her room with the gate closed a few months ago, so I can have a shower. She used to cry but now she goes quite happily for 20 mins or so (with dummy and favourite teddy!), even though she goes mad if I try to leave her anywhere else.

So I would say although you have to accept the clingy phase, I would persevere with the bedroom as she'll probably get used to it and then at least you can guarantee a shower!

Thanks. May try a travel cot on the landing where she can see me maybe.

It's hard this parenting business isn't it?!

I too have velcro baby - he'll be distracted for a few mins I think I'm all clear and ready to go and the whinge starts and he has to be picked up and cuddled. he nuzzles in and needs his muslin....oh dear, I'm just rolling with it.I quite like the cuddles but get very little done. If you're in the ktichen maybe try a cupboard she can play in with lots of little bits and bobs to pull out...I have toys in each room so I can do stuff and just cart him round with me.
