I feel as though he’s missing out when we go out as he won’t sit quietly in the car. He cries his eyes out. Why? I’m so confused. He’s fed, burped & ready to sleep but won’t settles and cries whenever in the car. My elder one wasn’t like this but he is. Anyone else?

This is quite a common issue with some babies, they really hate being strapped down in car seats and pushchairs (I think it's the feeling of being held down) - is he OK strapped down in a pushchair?

Does he need the newborn insert removed from his car seat?

Perhaps the next stage car seat? Still rear facing obviously but not an infant carrier so he’s more upright?

Does he have a mirror to see you?

If nothing else just keep putting him in the car and he will get used to it xx

Please ignore advice about moving up a car seat - at 6 months old that is dangerous.

Have you tried Songs in the car, talking, singing to him. Is it an option to walk more and drive less?

Ds2 was like that. He hated hated being in the car. Putting a mirror in front of him helped. They are specially made for car and you attach them to the head rest.
