My DD is just over 3mo, she has never slept for more than 3 hours & this is a rarety. She is exclusively BF & at present I have mastitis & she is biting when fretting. Things are not good. She has recently had flaying arms, banging her legs, only napping now for about 40 mins a go & it is getting exhausting. She is a gorgeous child who when she gives the amazing smiles & generally is a pleasant & charming little girl. I know that its nothing she is doing, it can only be me & what I am doing must be wrong to get her to sleep/settle. Please help me to get it right.

Repeat: It is not my fault!

I know it's really hard when they're like this.
I think some little ones are just not built for long periods of sleep this young.

I'm afraid I don't have any real advice (apart from maybe swaddling?), other than don't beat yourself up over it.

My dd is 4 months and has occasionally gone 5 hours, but usually 3 at a time, and 30 min naps.

If you want more support, or to chat with other tired mums, perhaps come over the "sleep" forum. There are lots of kindred spirits there .
