Suddenly clingy

I have a 22 month old who until a couple of weeks ago was very independent. When I would visit family especially her grandparents house, she didn't want to know me and would love spending time with them. It seems all of a sudden she has become Very clingy to the point where she is so so shy and won't talk or leave my side. This is very out of character for her. If for example my dad talks to her, she will stare at me trying to get my eye contact so I'll answer for her. She has very good speech. I am pregnant and due in 8 weeks. She is very aware that I'm going to have a baby... Could this be why? Has anyone else experienced this? I think it's a shock to me as its such a change in her behaviour.

It's a fairly normal developmental stage, although usually a little later. As they become more aware of the world outside of themselves they also get a bit shy/self conscious.

That combined with the new baby is probably the cause.

Don't make a big issue of it and it'll pass over!
