Periods **Possibly TMI**

Didn't really know where to post this, so hoping this is the right topic.

My 11 year old daughter started her periods in March, first one absolutely fine, pretty average in terms of durations, flow that kind of thing. Her second period started on the 9th April and apart from about 2 days in the middle, she is still is still bleeding now. Really heavy, having to double up on pads, bleeding through. We've been out this morning and returned to find she's completely bled through her pad, knickers and her jeans and there were a couple of clots on the pad. She's mortified.

I know when they start periods can be erratic and vary with how long they last and if they are regular but would I be laughed at or be that parent if I phoned 101 just to discuss things with them today?

Can anybody else share their DD's period experiences just to help put my mind at rest?

111 and no you wouldn't BU at all. I'd get her checked. As you say at first they can be pretty erratic but if it's worrying you and DD that's what they're there for. I'm sure people have called for a lot less. In the meantime can I offer a tip? After I had my DS I was bleeding quite heavy and sent DH out for more maternity pads. He returned with Always bladder leak pads by mistake and they were a godsend. Didn't leak through them once. May help your DD with her heavy flow. Good luck.

I would certainly ring 111 too (they're usually pretty good at helping get gp app too, there's a 6 week wait at mine!) Can't tell you about my daughter's as she 9 months but mine was erratic at best. Had a 7 day bleed then off for 2 weeks then 3 weeks normal and a week heavy then nothing for a month till it settled to a regular flow.
