10 weeks not focusing on faces or voices

Hello all, I'm a worried first time mum looking for advice and reassurance. Our little girl is just 10 weeks old. She doesn't take much interest in faces or voices, makes eye contact only occasionally and although she smiles quite often, I'm pretty sure it's wind as isn't usually in response to us. She will track my face with her eyes (sometimes) and track her toys. She also follows me from a distance with her eyes. She sleeps well and even though she has quite bad wind and doesn't cry that much. She coos and flaps around around on the changing matt quite happily but it's hard to tell if this is in response to us as she'll do the same on her own. I'm pretty worried as I know these things can indicate asd but that it's far to early to tell. The doctor and HV are not worried they just say give her time. I'd love to hear from others who have been through similar. Thank you

Hi, my ds also never looked at faces. In fact he would actively look away. He was my first, and I remember being so worried from very early on, particularly when I saw other babies who seemed to obsessively stare at faces, while my ds would be staring off to the far corner of the room. My ds is now 12, and not asd. I put it down to his personality - he still can find emotional situations overwhelming and is quite shy.

It all can be so worrying, but try not to let worry and anxiety spoil these precious early days.
