Parenting - deflecting attention

Hi, on here to vent out my frustration..

Currently in Hong Kong and wonder if anyone else experienced insults from other parents trying to deflect attention from their crying and scream baby onto innocent mothers?

I'm a lucky mother of a very happy calm 8month old baby boy. We were sitting peacefully on the bus home from central to Tai po. A couple got on with their 1 year old baby which started screaming the bus down and wouldn't settle for at least 40mins of the journey. Being in Hk people stare and comment which doesn't help for any parent.

But as a mother I know how hard it is to look after a screaming child so sat patiently next to the parents and said nothing.

However as they left the bus, the dad verbally attack me, saying that if I can't control the child don't give birth!! Basically trying to deflect the screaming child attention onto my child and me! Crazy!! Only in Hong Kong?? Or whether this happens around the world?

However hard it is for a parent to have a screaming child, I found it very upsetting that they feel the need to deflect attention onto other innocent parents.

Anyone else had this experience or even tempted to do this in frustration?

Gosh, that is really weird. Is it by any chance a Chinese thing to do with 'face' (ie saving face)?

There's an expats board that might be able to help. Or do you have any expat mum friends?
