Writhing baby

Another day, another problem... 😥

On and off for over a week, my LO has been writhing around - kicking her legs, flailing her arms - whenever I put her down to sleep. Even if I think she is in a deep sleep when I put her down, she’ll writhe around until she wakes herself up and eventually starts crying, ending up screaming inconsolably when the only thing that seems to calm her down is skin to skin.

After googling around, I thought it was trapped wind, so I’ve been burping and burping her and doing plenty of the bicycling etc, but it’s still happening. I’ve given her gripe water though I perhaps haven’t given this time to work as it was only in the last 24 hours.

She has had mild bronchilitis but I don’t think this is related. She’s having plenty of wet nappies and had 2 dirty ones today, which is a bit more than usual. She’s bottle fed and 5 weeks old.

Can anyone help with this or offer and advice/thoughts? If it is trapped wind, surely it should have passed by now? I hate seeing her in such discomfort and I feel a complete failure for not being able to help her.

Could it possibly be reflux? Silent reflux exists too which isn’t always so obvious. It’s not a subject that I know a lot about but I know babies are often quite restless because it’s painful for them.
