Hi everyone am new to this and not sure if im even posting in the correct forum. My wee man is 6 months and 2 weeks old and im a worried 1st time mummy. He doesnt show alot of interest in grabbing toys or holding them - prefers to keep his hand in his mouth which is probably amusing him as his first 2 teeth are up. He never liked tummy time and would cry to lie on his back. He doesnt roll round and cant seem to position his hands on the ground to turn himself round or steady himself. He does some high pitched squealing short term in excitement but i wouldnt say babbling. Is this all normal or is he way behind? Is there certain toys/books/excercises i could try to help him with all of this.... any words of wisdom would be great xxx

I wouldn't say he's WAY behind. My LO wasn't rolling at 6 months and he used to hate being on his back due to reflux. But we did do lots of floor time with him to exercise his muscles.
You say he's not interested in toys but how is he with finger food. He's a good age for weaning so you could try seeing how well he'll grab at food. Feeling different textures will help his development too. Try boiling some carrot sticks or try cucumber and see how he hits on with grabbing those.
Some babies need a lot of show and tell to learn things so try meeting him see you eat the finger food first.

Try not to sorry too much as every baby is different. My 2 yr old was like your baby and never grabbed toys, hated tummy time and took forever to roll over. He is now where he should be but just wasn't interested in certain things, in comparison my 6 month old loves grabbing things and has been rolling over for ages and loves tummy time! Both are boys and both had same toys etc. Just shows you how different each child is- milestones are guide lines.

Hi Davara.

How is your LO doing now? I realise this was posted back in April but I am in the same boat now. I keep reading that my LO should be doing things by now and it is causing me some anxiety. My main concerns are that although she can grasp things in her hands and put them to her mouth, she doesn't really reach for objects unless I put them right next to her hands. We never did much tummy time due to awful reflux but have started a little recently and she doesn't push up very well with her arms. She can lift her head but doesn't seem to use her arms to lift off the floor. When I'm holding her she has fantastic head control and can sit up with support. She interacts well and is laughing/smiling. She coos alot but hasn't babbled yet. I do worry!
