ADHD or just a child

Hi
My 5 year old boy when at home can get very excited and can't seem to control the excitement so ends up acting quiet strange (like he's got bursts of energy to get out and it's all bottled up inside so he makes strange noises and runs around like a loony). He doesn't display many signs of ADHD (the ones like not really listening I would put down to him being a typical 5 year old).
Has anybody else experienced this? He seems to act like this mainly when he's had sugar or had an audience and is perfect at school and can be quite shy at other times. Is this a bad reaction to sugar or something more serious?
Thank you in advance

It sounds quite normal. Some children (not wanting to generalise, but all the examples I can think of are boys) need ridiculous amounts of outdoor, physical exercise to burn off their energy.

Is he worse when it's windy?
