Today ds has discovered he can stick his fingernail into the crayon and then wipe the little bits on the floor... Not quite scribbling on paper, but nearly

we have got an Aquadraw - what a fab invention, and thanks to JeremyVile for giving a link to buy it cheaply!

And there may be fingerpainting this afternoon!

Hurrah for your DS!

Kewcumber · 11/07/2007 12:14

I'm far too scared to give my 18 month old DS finger paints

LittleLupin · 11/07/2007 12:19

Strip him down to a nappy, and do it eother outside, or in a wipeclean room. Have a bath pre-run, and stairgates open so you can run upstairs and lob the paint covered child into the bath afterwards!

I just cover the floor with paper and let him go nuts

ktmoomookimono · 11/07/2007 12:24

at a nursery we did that once the babbies loved it they were coverd in paint head to toe and giggling it was great fun

hi there
searching for the link to buy Aquadraw cheaply. can you help please? wanting to buy this for my DD for christmas.

LittleLupin · 11/07/2007 12:50

Here you go

£9.99 plus P&P

Kewcumber · 11/07/2007 12:57

ooh that looks quite good - is it less messy than fingers paints [hopeful emoticon]

LittleLupin · 11/07/2007 13:05

Kew - it is entirely non messy. You fill the "pens" with water, and where the mat gets wet, it turns blue. As it dries, it goes back to white. It is FANTASTIC! And they can suck away at the pens to their heart's content.

We are flying out to HK later this year (yippee!) and I'm planning on taking it on the plane. Flip it over, and it doubles as a nappy mat!

Kewcumber · 11/07/2007 13:34

ooh I'm going to get one..

deaconblue · 11/07/2007 18:10

what a good idea. We do painting in the garden. Had blue and pink bits of grass for ages til it rained last time!

In the end we went swimming instead (hilarious - he was utterly buoyant in his little wetsuit ) - and he was so knackered afterwards he slept until teatime!

CrookshanksinJimmyChoos · 11/07/2007 22:57

Oh that looks fab! Am feeling a failure though as haven't done any painting or anything with DS yet....

LittleLupin · 11/07/2007 22:58

Choos, I have only just started and we are a couple of months ahead of you.

CrookshanksinJimmyChoos · 11/07/2007 23:01

I did take him out into the garden today with his floating bath Island and a big tub of water but he picked up the water scoop and it went all over him and I lasted ooooh about 5 mins before marching him back in to change clothes as was worried that as he was wet, the wind would make him cold......

LittleLupin · 11/07/2007 23:10

DS rampages around our garden, eating mud, trying to clamber on the BBQ, jumping in the (huge) paddling pool half filled with stagnant rainwater... he loves being outside.

CrookshanksinJimmyChoos · 11/07/2007 23:13

Oh God, you are so much more chilled out than me....if DS ate mud I'd be in a right state!!! I worry about him sitting on the grass because..... DH put weedkiller on it.............about 3 years ago....

LittleLupin · 11/07/2007 23:15

I am only chilled out because he is unstoppable ... he likes to eat sand as well, and regularly gets involved with my neighbour's herb garden!

Today when DH came home, he found the mop, kitchen broom and all the BBQ tools in the living room, where DS had industriously carried them from the back porch

Kewcumber · 12/07/2007 09:54

actually painting in teh garden sounds a good idea (if the bleedin son ever comes out )

LittleLupin · 12/07/2007 12:03

Don;t talk about your DS like that!

Kewcumber · 12/07/2007 12:10

oops

in my defence I am an accountant not a spellist.

LittleLupin · 12/07/2007 12:17

oh, an accountant...

Just kidding, my mum's an adder-upper as well
