My DC is three and we just started private sessions of speech therapy. He had his first one this week for an hour. The session went well, and my DS spoke loads, which is very unusual for him. Yay !!!
But I know I need to get him to speak more generally for therapy to work. I'm worried it won't help otherwise and I'll be wasting my money.
I'm also signed up to take him to more activities after Easter. To (hopefully) help him follow instructions and have something to try to talk about. He doesn't really speak of his own accord. He can but doesn't and struggles.
Apparently he doesn't speak at all at preschool, so no point in increasing that.
The therapist gave us a single sound to work on, but I've tried to get my DS to try to say it and he just stares at me. It's not a word just a sound - phonics?! I'm obviously not a speech therapist
I feel I should of asked for more homework.
