3 year old biting

My 3.5 year old ds has on occasion bitten me, his dad and older brother. Usually it's been in excitement when playing an excitable game but he's done it in frustration too. I'd say it's happened 5-6 times.

For example he was squabbling with his sibling over a toy and he bit his sibling, quite hard. For context his brother is 10 and wasn't interested in the toy, but had been playing with his little brother when ds2 just decided ds1 could go away now. I just immediately took the toy away and told him he wasn't having it now for biting. Told him off for the biting, he mustn't do it, it hurts, it's unkind etc.

Anyway, he's usually good as gold at nursery, has never bitten or hit or anything like that. However last week playing a game and he went to bite one of the nursery workers. They said he immediately got upset and knew he'd done wrong, I think it was in excitement rather than nastiness, but obviously don't want it happening again.

Ds loves it when I play a game chasing him saying I'm going to eat him all up so wondering if I've caused it by doing this?

Any advice welcome as I've never had a biter before.

If you have a look in the MN archive there will be lots of old threads on biting, you're not alone in having to go through this Smile
