My 3 year old won’t listen/converse? Help!

Hi all, I’m finding it hard when trying to talk to my 3 year old. He just ignores me all the time and other people. Unless I prompt and prompt to answer me he will gladly just ignore me and carry on playing. I can ask a question and he won’t take me on, ask him about what he’s doing and he won’t even look up, ask him about his day and he just won’t acknowledge it. I worry when he’s with other people because they think he’s just rude and ignorant and I don’t know how to fix it. He starts school this year and I don’t want it to be unfixable.

Any suggestions?

Do you have any other development worries with him? speech? gestures? social? If he is not turning to you, then he is either not hearing you (hearing issues), too engrossed in what he is doing to notice you (you are background noise), ignoring you on purpose (defiant), or can hear you but is unable to understand that you are talking to him (unable to understand social cues).

@Mumma2one I was going to ask pretty much the same as Aladdin.

If you could give us a bit more information, we might be able to help Smile
