My son always asks to go to birthday parties but once we go he will not leave my side and join in. He is content to sit on my lap and watch everyone else. She will not speak to anyone and when her friends come to greet her she refuses to say anything.

When asked he says he only likes dancing/playing games with Mummy at home. I know he has a small circle of friends at school but his teachers say he gets along with everyone. It’s just once we step in that church hall he will not participate. Once he’sback in the car on the way home, it is back tonormal chatty self.

Should I keep taking him to parties in the hopes that he will get comfortable and used to them, or stop accepting invites?

It’s a very stressful situation for me but I try not to let him see it’s making me upset when I see everyone else having fun and my son sat on my lap.
