Is this normal? I’m starting to panic. He can roll onto his side but not from back to front or front to back.

I think it's well within the realms of normal. Have you tried some things to increase strength like a door bouncer or jumperoo, swimming or Tummy Time? Smile

My 11mo is still not rolling! But he can crawl. Health visitor was going to refer him at 11mo but now said as he's crawling he doesn't need it

Hi, please don't panic, at 5 months he's still well within normal limits. I'm a children's physio and have worked in child development for many years. The average age for a child to start rolling is 5-6 months from back to front and a little later 6-7 months to roll from front to back. If he can roll onto his side it sounds like he is starting to learn and practice which is great. Children learn to move through practice, repetition and success so practice it with him. Lots of tummy time (little and often if he's not a fan!) and when he rolls onto his side help him roll the rest of the way so he ends up rolling over, then lots of praise for how clever he's been and practice again. Just make it a game and he'll soon pick it up. Rolling's a funny one, some children don't do much of it but it can help with floor time play if they get the hang of it as it is often the first bit of independent mobility a child can achieve so they can roll to get where they want to. Please message again if you want any further advice.
