Not saying any words

My little boy is 16 months old and isn't saying any words at all he makes quite a lot of noises and sounds and will babble and say ma but I can't help but worry the health visitor and nursery nurse don't seem worried atm but I can't help it I'm doing everything I possibly can to try and get him to say words but he's having none of it he understands everything I'm saying

The health visitor isn't worried because there is nothing to worry about. He can clearly hear and understand words. His brain is accumulating them and they will come tumbling out. Nothing you can do can speed this process. Just chat away to him read stories and do all the things you would do if he could talk. Give him a running commentarry on life sing to him and have fun. One day you will want him to be quiet for 5 mins

Thank you I just can't help but worry I know I shouldn't compare to other kids but sometimes I can't help it and when I see other kids younger than him saying a couple of words and he's not I feel like I'm doing something wrong even though I constantly talk read and sing to him and describe surroundings when we're out and stuff

I can remember my DD not talking and how anxious you can get. Talking Point is a great resource. Once he's 2, you can self refer for a hearing test and SALT in most areas.
