18 month old biting

Hi

My 18 month old child has bitten another child in nursery today and I feel terrible,

He has only ever bitten me or my husband before when he was about 1 a handful of times but he seemed to grow out of it after telling him it hurts and is wrong and not to do it.

Now I'm not sure what to do and I am dreading him going to nursery next incase he does it again!

He is going through an awful stage with tantrums at the moment too.

We tell him what he is doing is wrong and why but when he's having a tantrum I tend to ignore or distract,

I guess why I'm posting is I really don't want him hurting anyone else and I'm so worried about what he'll do if I'm not around, so what else can I do to stop this behaviour?

Nursery did say it's unusual behaviour for him and they are not concerned by it. He was just frustrated and wanted a toy another child had

TIA

He's probably growing a tooth. My son tries to bite everything including me when he's teething. It's very painful so he gets frustrated and bites anything in his sight to relieve his frustration/pain. He's also 18 months. Check his mouth if you see a new tooth coming in it's definitely that. Speak to the teachers and let them know if that is the case. That way they can be more understanding. When my son gets out the shower he starts biting on the towel and my arm or his fingers. It hurts a lot! He usually stops doing this once the tooth has came through though.
