Quirk? Or should I be worried?

My 6yr old son has been doing this thing where when he says a sentence he whispers it again after or repeats the last letter to himself over and over.
If u have even watched the TV program 'the middle' it's similar to what the little boy 'Brick' does.
He did it years ago when he first started talking then it stopped for a while but I've noticed it becoming more and more frequent, sometimes it's like he doesn't even know he's doing it.
So does anyone have any advise? Do any of ur kids do it? If so what was the outcome?
Should I be worried? Or is it just a quirky part of his personality?

I've never heard of that, I'll have a look into it.

I'm not sure this is what it could be as at a quick glance its saying that its repetition of others... he doesn't copy other he copies himself. But I will defo look into it further and possibly speak with my gp to see if they have any theories aswell.

I have no idea tbh but kids do do funny things! I would get his hearing checked and maybe look into APD (auditory processing disorder) although I do not believe that is one of the symptoms. Sorry not much help!

I have spoken with teachers and family members (one of which works with children with additional needs) and I've been told not to worry to much but monitor it for a while.
They recon it's a nervous thing which maybe related to the dad being constantly in and out of their lives (out at the moment)

It's a vocal tic.
On it's own it's nothing to worry about.
