not really into the whole babyproofing thing. think it's better to teach them not to play with things they shouldn't.

the only really important thing i could think of was a cupboard catch on the cleaning cupboard.

or have any of you not even had that?

I have it all as I am a childminder but tbh i wouldn't have a lot of it if i wasn't. I wouldn't risk going without a lock on the cupboard with cleaning fluids though - just not worth it IMO. Either lock medicines and dangerous stuff in a cupboard or keep it well out of reach.

with dd we did far less than with ds . Had a gate across kitchen doorway and some electrical socket covers (in Europe so sockets were permanently "live"). Rented apartment so no stairs and could n't screw anything in or adapt. Do bear in mind it is alnost impossible to teach a newly mobile baby and expect them to remember, you could well be in for months of frustration and reinforcement before you see any results. In soem ways it si easier to baby proof the eseentials and allow them some freedom to explore such as the pots and pans cupboard or stairs under supervision, gate otherwise.

I put a gate on the kitchen door as you have to go too close to the oven to get into the kitchen so didn't fancy worrying about her singing ehr hands everytime I cooked.

Apart from that the only thing we did was move DH's precious surround sound onto the walls so she couldn't eat the cables and put bumper edges on the coffee table (she has hit it twice since, in nearly a year!)

(Well, I did partition off the fire and pc, but only cos they are next to birdcages...if I hadn't had birds I would have just tidied cables and left it)
