Tantrums in 3 year old

My oldest is about to turn three and the last few weeks her behaviour has been terrible.

She seems to start crying/ moaning over every little thing: getting dressed, bath time, don’t want tea, don’t want to go to nursery. want to watch baby shark 😤 , sore toe, sore arm etc.

I’m struggling to keep my cool as it feels constant at the moment. Everything is a battle.

Any tips to nip this in the bud? What’s the best thing to do when one of these tantrums starts?

How is she now OP? Are things still the same?

My son is also about to turn three. I've noticed he's tantruming a fair bit more than usual. He's started acting scared of the dark (cries when the lights go off) and he's being defiant by default.

He moans/cries because the doesn't want to go into the bath, then he cries when it's time to come out. He doesn't want to go to xyz, he wants to go zyx. I'll make a statement ('that car is red') and he'll absolutely disagree despite having told me seconds before that the car is red. I can't even catch him out like I used to:
'Do you want to read a book?'
'No'
'You don't want to read a book?'
'Yes'
Grin

I'm putting it down to a moment in life where he's figuring things out, and the best I can do is not take the bait the majority of the time.

My DS has just turned 3 and is very similar to some of the comments made! Sadly I think it's the age, and I'll never understand the emphasis on terrible two's but not threes. Two was so easy!

Yup mine’s the same. Turns three next month. Has become harder work than ever.

This too shall pass.

Pass the wine.
