ASQ - X? Development score

OnNaturesCourse · 11/01/2019 11:04

My LO 'scored' (horrible use of the word)
Speach etc : 35
Gross Motor : nothing written
Fine Motor : 35
Problem Solving : 45
Personal / Social : 50

Some areas have N next to them and others are blank or have what looks like a X?

Just reviewing it at home and I can't make sense of it. Staff nurse just said we will check in at the next development appointment so I assume all is OK but what do these numbers and letters (or lack of...) mean?

I’m sorry OnNatures I haven’t even heard of the test. Hopefully this will bump for you Smile

Here is a link to the ASQ website agesandstages.com and this is the link to the tip sheet for the ASQ-SE2 scoring agesandstages.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/ASQSE-2-Scoring-Help.pdf.

The website doesn’t seem to have info available on what different scores mean. I would go back to the nurse and just ask them to clarify, but if they didn’t flag anything then it should be fine.

They look like high scores, anything over 30 would be a pass in that area with 50 being the maximum score. Gross motor was probably left out as your LO easily passed that area by just looking at him/her without the need for testing (i.e. he was advanced for their age, so depending on age that could be walking, running, climbing, etc.) How old is your LO?

What asq age was the assessment?

How old is your dc.

OnNaturesCourse · 11/01/2019 17:24

14 months - walked into the assessment and climbed onto the seat so maybe it was clear enough for them 😂

Lol - that probably did it for gross motor skills!

Here is the link for the ASQ-14 months questionnaire -> www.southernhealth.nhs.uk/EasysiteWeb/getresource.axd?AssetID=99653&type=Full&servicetype=Attachment

You child scored Satis for everything other than Fine Motor where they were very slightly in the grey: they didn't score GM so obviously can't advise on that.

I wouldn't have reviewed them either.

If you want to private message me a picture of the summary sheet I may be able to get abit more from it, if you do just crop out your child's details.

spinabifidamom · 25/01/2019 13:27

Your child seems fine to me. My son's scores were normal apart from the big motor stuff. Apart from that, he seems to be on track developmentally. Try not to worry too much about it.
