Hi, I have a 7 year old that is misbehaving at school. He isn't doing any of his work and won't follow instructions. The teacher gives him multiple chances to behave and he won't. He is constantly talking too and his head is in the clouds. Does anyone have any advice?he promises me he'll be good before school but always comes home to tell me he's been bad.

I'm sorry to hear that he's struggling. What have the school said? Have you spoken to his teacher and SENCO?

When did this behaviour start?

Possibly ADHD ? Can ask him why he isn’t doing his work whether it’s because it’s too hard or he can’t concebtrate ect

The fact he tells you he has been bad is a sign that he is disappointed with himself and probrably can’t help it

Maybe look up ADD/ADHD and high functioning autism to see if he ticks any boxes. He may not. Also look up slow processing. He may not be doing his work because he can't. Talking a lot may be in his nature and he can't help it. Don't get cross with him or punish him as it seems like he can't control his impulses. I have a little boy who was very similar and he has very mild high functioning autism (Asperger's to some). My little guy is great at home and I was surprised by his behaviour at school. He is flying now with a little understanding. Im not saying your child has the same condition as mine but his behaviour warrants investigation. Children will do the best they can when given understanding and opportunity. Best of luck.
