14 month old ds has new "dolphin" noise - how do I shut him up?

He has discovered he can make an ear splitting high pitched shriek when he's fed up or frustrated. If he needs help to do somehting I help him but am trying to act as if the noise hasn't happened. Am I right or should I be telling him off for making the noise? It's bloody painful but I think if I make a big fuss he might think it gets attention and do it all the more. Maybe yet again "it's jsut a phase"

yep, i think so (from reading other responses, my four month old has just discovered her "voice" - it's excruitiating)

it's that or the Anthony Hopkins/pyscho style face gag, which may draw some curious glances when shopping in Tescos.....
