Concerned about my 11 month old

DS will be 11 months next week. He doesn’t crawl or shuffle, no cruising. Doesn’t wave, clap or point. He doesn’t roll. He didn’t sit up until 9 months. He won’t feed himself finger food but he’ll happily hold and chomp on a toy.
The GP wants us to see community paeds but I don’t know when we’ll get that referral.

I know babies develop differently but it seems like some babies sit up early but don’t crawl or feed themselves but are late to clap etc. It just seems DS is late in everything. I’m trying not to worry but finding it hard at this point. I’m dreading his 1 year review. Can anyone relate??

I can understand why you are worrying but it’s good that the GP as taken your concerns seriously. It might be worth ringing the GPs tomorrow to make sure the referral has been done Smile

Please don’t dread the 12 month check either, it’s designed exactly for situations like yours. Could you ask the HV if there are any services she can refer you too? Usually they run groups for children and babies who need a little extra support. I’d also ask for a hearing test and what activities you can do, like maybe swimming.

It might be worth starting doing some makaton signs with LO too Smile
