Overstimulation

Hi
My 5 month old seems to get overstimulated from the minimalist of things. He’s been this way since day 1- for example if we take him to a baby sensory class (despite naps and feeds beforehand) he’ll scream for 4ish hours afterwards. It’s the same with day to day stuff like going to the supermarket which makes life really hard. We make sure things are kept to a minimum and we’re home for naps etc but I’d like to know if anyone else experiences this or has any suggestions? It’s difficult to even meet friends for a half hour coffee cause he’ll be utterly distressed afterwards. Any suggestions what we’re doing wrong? Thanks, it’s horrible seeing him so upset.

My son was the same. It makes sense though, they were in a dark, quite place for 9 months and we want them to adjust right away. I know you want to be with your friends and do things etc but if it's hurting your baby maybe it's best to do what makes him most comfortable. That's motherhood I'm afraid. My son got a lot better around 6 months but if we went for a meal at a restaurant he would cry, it was too much for him. I was cooped in for a few months and now he's perfectly ok! Just a little sacrifice we moms need to make for a little while.
