when do children develop moles?

This is my first time on the board, so hello! Wondering about the above, as my 2 year old dd has developed 7 flat freckles (that I suspect are moles) over the last year or so. I am very moley and dh has several too. I always use high factor sun cream on dd and keep her out of sun as much as possible. Feeling rather fretful about it, probably as I have just had another baby, and wanted to hear your experiences? Thank you!

ds has several moles (he is just 3) and started getting them quite early. He seems to have new small ones appearing quite regularly. They are very dark but flat. dd1 also has moles but they didn't develop until later and are paler but she is fair skinned. dd2 has a few small dark moles too. I don't think it's anything to worry about and is probably to do with inherited skin type (my dh has lots of moles, i have lots of freckles!!). You are being careful with her skin so I'm sure it's normal. HTH.

My 7 month old DS has just started to get a few, and I don't think it's the sun because they're on his buttocks!

I'm sure they are just an inherited thing - I have loads myself.

Congrats on your new baby BTW!

DD's first and only mole appeared when she was about 1 month old (not sun related, on her buttom).

I've wondered about this because DH and I are both very moley and freckly but as yet DS (1 year) doesn't seem to have any. Surely he must be due to get some?!?!? I make sure he has suncream, hat etc because he's very fair like me but I have moles in places the sun doesn't get to so it can't just be that.

Both my dds have small very dark moles in places which have never seen the sun! I think it's just inherited.

I think my ds1 was about 3 or 4 when they started to appear in places that never see the sun

Thanks to everyone for your messages - I guess, like everything else, it's different with every child!
