Toddler not eating and losing weight

At what point should I be concerned about my daughter’s eating, or lack thereof? She was weaned from 6 months, baby led and used to eat most things put in front of her. I can’t remember when it started getting worse but basically she now won’t eat meat at all and is slowly reducing the range of things she will even consider trying.

I struggle to get 3 meals a day into her. She just refuses and throws a tantrum when they’re offered. I don’t let her have snacks or desserts anymore and she still won’t eat meals. She’s gone from 75th to 50th centile and frankly I’m getting bloody fed up of this.

Oops sorry I forgot to say she’s now 21 months.

Is she tracking her height and head centiles? It might be worth going to your next weigh-in clinic and getting the HV to measure and record all three.

You’re not the only one with a fussy toddler though if that helps, have a look at this recent thread.

Have you ruled out sensory issues too? It might be worth doing the m-chat Smile

I’d never heard of the m-chat, thanks! I did it though and she came out as low risk, she doesn’t come across as autistic.

As far as I can tell she’s still tracking her height centile which is 50th, no idea about her head; it was 98th at her 9-12 month check! But I can see she’s dropped on her weight one, which combined with never wanting to eat is a concern. I can’t get to clinic very easily now as they all seem to coincide with when I am at work.

Going through the same thing! It's very frustrating. My son only wants biscuits and crackers and he used to eat anything I'd give him. I cut off all snacks too and no more biscuits or anything like that and still no luck. He just won't eat. No milk during the day either. Very very frustrating. I feel your pain!
