When did your baby bat at objects?

My 2 week old has started to bat at things, deliberately. Only uses a fist and doesnt grasp for it. We’ve hung a couple toys on the side of the cot (only when fully awake and supervised) and she definitely notices them, focuses eyes and bats at the ribbons with a fist. Is this alright? She doesn’t seem distressed but everything I’ve read says she shouldn’t do this until later. She was an emergency caesarean, might this indicate a problem? Cxx

That's amazing. My son began grasping a tiny home made rattle at 2 months and didn't bat things until he was about 3 months. But he began to sit up at 3 months!! When kids are meant to begin at 5-6. He would do it on his own, I used to worry but there was no stopping him. Like they say, all kids develop at their own pace. Just embrace it :) I don't think there's anything to worry about.

Throw the textbooks and when baby 'should' do things out of the window! They are all so different and will do things at their own pace, whether that be early, on time or later than average. I drove myself mad wondering whether what dd was doing was normal and forgot to enjoy what she was achieving! Don't make the same mistake, I try my hardest not to any more 😊

Thank you both for the reassurance. Hard not to worry, just want everything to be alright with my LO - will try to relax and enjoy Smile Cxx
