2 year old destroying the house

We have 3 children aged 5, 4 and 2.

Our 2 year old is visually impaired but is pretty much where she should be in terms of development goals.

She goes to a childminder 18 hours a week, loves it and socialises very well.

At home she is just relentless, she does not stop moving stuff, trying to climb on everything, destroying everything that she possibly can and just causing utter chaos.

Trying to get anything done around the house is almost impossible, as she is always up to something.

The only restbite we can get is to put her in her cot.

She has been like this for a good 6 months now. She turned two last month and I was hoping that she would calm down but in fact she seems to be getting worse.

Apart from waiting for her to grow out of it. Does anybody have any ideas?

Will she do things for you? For instance if you give her a pile of clothes and get her to load the washer or give her a brush and do a bit of sweeping?

I have just had to accept that when my 2 year old is awake the house is going to look a bit upside down. Most of the mess can’t be cleaned pretty quickly when she goes to bed.

The only thing you can do is limit her access to things you don’t want her to get at. I put magnetic locks on all cupboards except one - and in that one there is lots of non-breakable things that she can take out.

It is very annoying though!

Mine is the same. I am battling it by giving him a sponge to wipe down the kitchen cupboards, sending him out to the garden to wash his tykes car, getting him to “polish” his shoes, wipe the table down, anything that keeps him moving and isn’t destructive!!!
