My dd 6 didn’t have the best review at school patents evening. She’s in Year 2 at school. They’ve been giving her extra lessons but aware bringing back in class as they believe she’s capable of more - just doesn’t concentrate v well. Behaviour issues are as follows:

Spitting (she says to me it’s because she has horrible taste in her mouth- she’s sensitive to certain smells)
Difficulty concentrating
Walked out of class and ‘hid’ for 20 mins (teacher thought she was going to her special learning class).
Teacher wondered if she had some issues when I asked she said dyspraxia but it was too early to tell! I don’t think it’s that as she is good at gymnastics and just learned to ride a bike in 20 mins. She does have a lot of bad reports from clubs though all are now saying it’s improving. So is it a behavioural issue or simply she’s young for her age?

If your DD is hhiding in school it's a sign she feels unhappy and is not coping well, and she might benefit from some more help. There are a lot of possible issues that can look quite similar - immaturity, dyspraxia, ASC, ADD, etc and it really takes an expert to figure out which.

Given her sensory issues and poor concentration you could go to the GP and ask for a referral to a developmental paediatritian or paediatric occupational therapist for some assessments.

I think Klein has given you some good information already. It might also be worth reading up on ASD in girls and having a look at the MN SN Chat Board Smile
