Hi there,
My little girl is close to 8 months and has recently discovered how to pull herself up to a sitting position on her own. I'm fine with this when I can supervise her during playtime as sometimes she pulls a wobbly, falls straight back and I support her with myself or a cushion behind.
The issue that I am facing now is that when I put her down for a nap (in her room, in her cot, in the dark - has been this way for months and she used to go down like a dream) she likes to sit up immediately and mess around with the sides of the cot. More often, she knocks her head on the side or solid end of the cot when she is reaching forward or trying to maintain balance. She is also trying to pull herself up with the cot bars and sometimes flings herself back where again her head is close to knocking the side or sometimes skims it. She ends up working herself up and crying hysterically. I go in a few times to reposition/settle her but by the time I've gone back out and reached the baby monitor she is in a sitting position again. Takes her now close to 40 minutes to settle to sleep each nap and my nerves are shot.
We have airwrap mesh bumpers but these don't help now that she is sitting in the cot.
Need some advice please? Is this normal, is it a phase? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
