Crying, crying, crying.

My 5 month old ds, has been the most relaxed, lovely and smiley baby. He is still very happy and content the majority of the time, but recently he's been getting so angry/crying a lot as I try and get him off to sleep.

This is throughout the day, for naps etc. he is breastfed and he would usually feed to sleep, or he'd fall asleep in my arms as i'd rock or bounce him. But in the last few days he's just cried and cried until he eventually gives in and falls asleep. I feel so terrible that he gets so upset, but also so tired of the constant holding and trying to console him before a sleep. Is this normal? Any advice would be appreciated.

Could he be teething OP?

I think he is teething, but when he's awake and not tired he is happy as anything and doesn't seem uncomfortable. It is only as I settle him that he begins to cry. I'm so confused!

Teething can sometimes bother them when they’re tired. You could try him with a dose of Ibruprofen. If that works, it’s definitely the teething bothering him

Not sure where I read it, but i did read that it can be a sign they're ready to self settle & get them selves to sleep - crying & arching away from you when trying to get them to sleep etc. My LO did the same and from about 5.5 months he goes off to sleep on his own with his dummy in his cot. He does have to be tired enough though.
