When I say inappropriately, I mean when a dear friend has bothered to take us out for dinner and the DD's are allowed to stay up late and come with us .

And also just at home when we refuse to take them to the park or out on the bikes because we have other things to do.

It's driving me and DH mad. Depending on what mood I am in my reaction has ranged from a very indifferent "Oh well, it's good to be bored, you can't be entertained all the time" to "How dare you be so rude, how can you possibly be bored ..... blah blah".

Anyone else going through this "phase". Yet another "phase" .

Perhaps every time he says he's bored, find him a really really horrible chore to do to help you. He'll soon learn not to declare boredom and entertain himself

Say, 'Oh that is good, you could go and tidy up your toys'. They tend to find something to amuse themselves at that point!
