Why, Mummy? Why?

I loved this phase with my son, but some mums hate it. I wondered how young mums were getting on now and what sort of Why, mummy? questions children were asking. An example from my son.

Him: What is that called?
Me: A wall?
Him: Why?
Me: I'm not sure. It's made of bricks.
Him:Why?
Me: Because they are strong.
Him: Why?
Me: I'm not sure.
Maybe I was such a rubbish answer giver and that is why he never stopped asking!

None of my three did this... however my nephew repeatedly asked 'what's that' for months and months before he could properly talk which really wound me up, I would have preferred silence!

When your son asks why he's not always looking for an answer. Why? Is an easy way to get attention/start a conversation. Its fun to turn the tables - pretend you don't know and ask him for the answer. Chances are, he'll know the answer or come up with a creative alternative.

Now you mention it, he was a second child and always wanted me to see what he was doing.
