Wet bed and the mattress!

Ds unusually had a wet bed last night. It has soaked a patch about ober one foot across.
How do I treat it? I initially sprayed it with Dettol anti bacterial and a while later shampood it with a Bissell pet stain remover treatment thingy- its a can with brush attached which you use to work the foam in to the fabric.
Thing is, it's still wet and has a tide mark. The wee will have gone far in to the mattress and washing the surface will only do so much. What do you do about the actual mattress?
Totally baffled.

Can't help but following as curious! We've got a waterproof mattress cover for this reason!

Our cover is now 12 years old and so it leaked through. Ds is our last child so didn't think there was any point in buying a new one!!
Hopefully someone will have some advice for us......

During potty training of my little one my mattress cover didn't last two minutes. Just used to put bin bags under the fitted sheet to avoid hitting the mattress if any accident happen! a little ghetto but you knowwwwwww Blush ... its only temporary

Antibacterial spray, white vinegar and baking soda.
Then cat litter over the top.
