I am stuggling to cope at the moment, every time i leave my 8mth dd's sight she screams and cries. I know that they go through a stage where they think if when you leave the room, your never coming back. Could this be the case? And how long does the phase last?

yep sounds like the clingy stage to me i'm afraid, I found it helped to jsut talk away and be as quick as poss.

as for the time scale, J still has the odd relapse now at 15 months but I think that stage was about a month ish. have you thought of a sling?

Sweettalkinmum · 12/06/2007 11:39

I was going to buy a sling but thought it may be a bit late in the day for one because i won't be able to use it for long as dd gets bigger.

I don't know someof them go up to 2/3 years old.

normal separation anxiety , it fades with time , sometimes overnight , sometimes over years (sorry). When she crawls /walks she'll follow you anyway.

seperation Anxiety. Kicks in around 7/8 months.
No cure!! Just time.

DD was like this at that age - only lasted a couple of weeks. I just to used to keep talking to her if I popped out of the room and stick my head back round the door after a few seconds so that she knew I hadn't deserted her.
