Morning beaker of milk - when to drop?

Hi
My DD is 16 months and has a beaker of milk as soon as she wakes (about 7am). She then doesn't have much appetite for breakfast and wondered if I should substitute the milk with water/juice, as she's very hungry / thirsty when she wakes and if I don't give her ANYTHING she gets very very cranky.

Any suggestions?

Milk and then breakfast at 8 - 8.30am?

Less milk?

Breakfast along side milk?

Breakfast then milk at maybe 9-10am?

My DD is 16 months and we do either of the last two.

Ds started having his milk with his beakfast at this age. Seems to work well

DD2 is a milkoholic!! She still has to have a cup of warm milk in the morning and she is 3 in July. I try to let her have her breakfast first so she "fills up" on that, but 9 times out of 10, she still wants her milk afterwards. Must admit, since the weather has been warmer, she hasn't been so demanding. I think it's more a comfort thing more than anything else.

Ds still has his milk and he is 2.5 (he goes through almost 2 pints of the stuff a day - oh no and it is junk food too!)
Agree with Boomie about the warmer weather - ds tends to like more juice than milk.

I do try to give him his breakfast first but it can be difficult.

DS still has a mug of warm milk first thing - and he's nearly 5!

Mind you, having said that, he also eats 2 breakfasts - 1 with me (cereal / porridge), and then with the childminder (usually toast) so him eating isn't really a problem....

My 6 and 4 year old still have milk first thing but it generally does not stop them eating breakfast which is normally 1 hour and a half later anyway (up at 6am breakfast 7.30am ish)

We still have the morning 'cuddle' in our room (with the milk and tea for us) which I love and don't really want to give up ...

DD has milk at 7am and then breakfast at nursery on three days when she gets there and breakfast anywhere betwen 8 and 9 if she isn't.
