Daughter not settling in going back to school

Hey Mums! My DD recently moved into Year 2 and I thought everything was going great. She's never complained before but recently she dreads going to school in the morning. The usual 'I feel sick' acts and sometimes throwing tantrums. I finally managed to get her to tell me what she hates about it and she says she doesn't like her class. Something that stunned me was she specifically called out an Asian child in her class which she referred to as 'brown' that sits next to her. I have no idea where she got this behaviour from and I'm completely at a loss of what to do.

Thank you x

I think it depends on what she actually meant. Was she saying that she didn't like the girl because she was brown or she didn't like the girl and described her as brown? I completely understand your shock but I think maybe if it was the latter, it wasn't meant in any bad way it's just an adjective she used to describe the girl.

Obviously either way the topic needs to be broached so that she can understand that we don't talk in that way but hopefully it came from a place of naivety and innocence rather than nastiness. Good luck
