Age appropriate toys or not?

Hi

My son reallly loves those roaring T. rex dinosaurs that walk. He is only 1. There are not many toys that grab his attention. He has lots of age appropriate toys but apart from his cars, I’ve only ever seen him be interested in dinosaurs. However, they are for older kids (3+ and some even 5-6). I haven’t bought him any but just wanted to get everyone’s opinions.

i think it would be fine to get him some, as long as you are watching while he plays. sometimes toys have an age limit because of small parts, so that may be worth bearing in mind. all the best x

Go for it! My dc have toys for older ages. Sonetimes its for small parts, sometimes its for understanding how to use them!

Toys are often put as 3+ as they have not been tested for under 3s. The testing for toys for children under 36 months are some of the most strict testing requirements of all products and rightly so. I would be very careful with anything that is not tested for under 3s personally
What about looking for dinosaur toys that are tested for Under 3s - there are plenty on the market. Best Years do knitted dinosaurs and natural rubber dinosaurs that are good teethers and bath toys

Thanks. He just loves the big dinosaurs that roar He won’t play with it if it’s soft :(

My eldest is 9 and my youngest is 1 and the baby mainly plays with her big brother’s toys. You just need to watch out for small parts that come off in case of choking.

I know the ones you mean, my DS is 1 and he has some. I'd go for it if you actually waiting til they were 3 to give them 3+ toys they'd have very boring toys!
